1. The project: Dreeftoren

Provast and First Sponsor developed the Dreef Residential Tower in the heart of Southeast Amsterdam, directly opposite the Amsterdam ArenA. Adjacent to the existing office building, a residential tower with 312 apartments was constructed. The office tower has been renovated and equipped with a completely new facade.

2. Byldis contribution to this project

For the residential tower, we engineered, produced, and installed the entire prefabricated structure and facades with aluminum frames and external aluminum construction. For the office tower, we produced and installed the aluminum facade.

3. Why was Byldis chosen?

Byldis, in an innovative approach, collaborated with three other subcontractors and a construction management firm to tackle this challenge: the new way of building. What makes this project unique is that a project of this scale in the Netherlands has never been executed without a major construction contractor. Through an alternative contract arrangement (subcontracting), we, together with the client and the three subcontractors, constructively took up the challenge and reached final contract formation.

4. Challenges & solutions

This new way of working did require a lot from us in terms of coordination and collaboration with the other subcontractors. However, we were confident that we were prepared for this and had made solid and constructive contractual agreements about it. Together, we are making this a success, especially because we actively sought each other out as subcontractors to collaborate effectively.
